    Memorial Case

Made the shadow box as a gift. It is for a memorial flag and the display. It is made of red oak. I cut down a 1"x 6" to rough width then used the cut off and with a locking miter joint attached it to the front to give the me e lip to hold the glass. I then used a couple different router bits to create the front profile. The back is simply a piece of lauan that has been flocked with a black felt. I am just waiting for the glass to finish it.

That looks awesome! Great job and thank you for sharing! If you don't mind me asking, how thick was the piece of lauan used for the back?

    Kind regards!
    Chris

That looks fantastic. Will that hold a single or two flags?

The lauan was I think 5mm thick. and it is designed to hold on flag and the the other triangle is going to hold a picture, a couple of medals and three shell casings

Nice work. Excellent joinery and the display arrangement will be unique.

Yeah, very nice work! I agree completely with Sarge about those miters.

I really like the looks of that. If you can, post a picture of it when it has the flag, medals, and casings. I have a feeling it will set them off very nice.
