I thought it was finally time for me to post some pictures of my work. I have done a lot of projects, but think this is my best so far. This is a cherry entertainment center. The color is a custom mix of 3 different minwax stains. It is finished with Deft semi gloss laquer. The bottom doors are ogee rail and stile with bead board, and the top doors are ogee rail and stile with beveled glass. The TV is a 40 inch Samsung LCD TV. This was a very fun project to build. Cherry is a great wood to work with. The design was completely custom, mostly designed by my wife. The pictures don't do it justice, but you will get the idea. Enjoy!

Great looking project. So what do you look at most, the TV or the Entertainment center? It seems like if I had made that, I would want to look at the entertainment center more.

Excellent job on this from both the work (you) and the design (your wife) as it has good balance from top to bottom. I love cherry but don't use it often as it gives me fits trying to even the tint over-all but.. nobody ever acccused me of being a finish guru for sure.
A communal family project that will be enjoyed and shared by all....
Well done...Comment

A very attractive unit. Done nicely. I like the color and finish, and the "crown moulding". Is that a build up?

Thanks for all the comliments. It took about 4 months to build, but it also sat for while and I could only work on it on weekends. The molding on the top is two pieces, a 3/4 inch piece all around the top with 1/8 round over, and a small piece of cove molding on the bottom.Comment

Nice Job. Thanks for the pictures, they answered a dye/splotching problem I'm dealing with on two curio cabinets made from maple. Even after a shellac washcoat some splotching remained after dying. I was contemplating on how creative and real those splotches would make the finish wood look, but I just couldn't conceptualize it until I saw your pictures. And darn it, they look real good. Problem solved. Thank you
Howie
P.S. Did you use a washcoat or pre-sealer before the stain?Comment
