    Finally finished!!!

Here is my latest accomplishment, the Barrister’s Bookcase. It was featured in Vol.4/No.24 of Woodcraft magazine just in time while I was trying to figure out how to build one to match my desk and file cabinet in my office.
Andy Rae does a fantastic job with his detailed descriptions and procedures for this project but, nevertheless, I ended up making a few changes. Anyway, I’m very pleased with the end product, as is SWMBO. And, as everyone knows, that’s all that counts.

I remeber seeing that in the magazine and thought it was a very nice piece.
Your turned out great the finish matches the look of the piece, not elaborate but tasteful. Well done!!!!!

What is the backing piece? It adds a distinctive flavor.
I think therefore I .....awwww where is that remote.

        Nicely done!

I'm guessing it's textured glass, combined with the camera flash that gives it the leopard skin look (which isn't otherwise noticeable?).

        Regards,
        Tom

The back is oak ply. It really looks odd through that "seedy" glass. I hadn't noticed it before.

Looks great. Is this a stackable set?

Yes it is. LOML said I didn't include enough details. There is actually 4 separate units on my bookcase. The top, (2) cases, and the base. Each unit is built with like sized frames and the bottom frames have 1/8"x1 1/8" registration strips that match the top of the unit under it. So in reality, it could be reversed except for the top which has a recessed panel.

That looks great. Much nicer than many I've seen. I also like the finish.

Very nice work! The photo effect for the backing is very interesting. I would like to duplicate that for real.

Very clean and professional looks. One of these days I'm gonna reach these levels of craftsmanship <so he mumbles>.

That photo effect is the carpet reflected in the glass. Arrestingly uniform, I should say.
