Remote control garage

I've made a few boxes recently. This one was done for a friend who works with glass. We made a box sized to fit the two remote controls on his coffee table.

He had a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 40" stick of straight-grained oak. I cut it up and trimmed it with walnut. Leaving a rabetted opening in the lid, I put a top-coat of poly on it and sent it back to him. He found a piece of glass in his shop that complements the box well.

LOL! We decide early on that he'd at least know where the remotes are supposed to be.

That is a very purty piece of glass. Around our house though, the remotes would never be in the box. Instead I'd always find my daughter's 'collections' in it.

That is really clean looking. You are forcing me to reassess my aversion to straight grain wood.
