Very nice. I never would have thought of putting oak & mahogany together like that. It turned out great. Good choice on filling the pores. I have a mahogany night stand I built in high school & we did not fill the pores before it was finished. It looks ok, but, getting a smooth surface without filling the pores on mahogany is near impossible.
On the last picture that shows the drawers, I didn't see any signs of how you are attaching the desk top. I'm curious how it is attached.
Busy and almost missed this but.. glad I did catch it this morning. You should be as proud of this piece as your daughter. The piece is quite attractive with nice, clean lines and the finish is great. As far as cutting it close on the drawer pulls... you were just adding a little excitement to challenge your ability.
Well done... now sit back for a brief moment and watch the other request from family come in because.... it simply will!

Thanks .
Attaching the top : you might notice that small metallic tab at the upper left side of the picture - that's how. I added a couple of those around after that pic was taken. It had a nice shorter arm (exactly 3/4") to be used vertically without protruding. Funnily, I 'found' a pack of 4 near my workplace cubicle, a remnant of something, but HD did not have anything like it.

Your daughter has probably put that table to good use by now. The drawer fronts look great with the angles and hardware; and then the hidden sections would be a delight for her! Great piece of furniture sir.
