    Crown Trinket Box

My wife wanted a small simple box for storage on her dresser.I had some scrap crown molding left from another project and decided to use it on this. The inside is lined with 1/4" ply.
The top and bottom are toned with blo then wb poly topcoat.

As J H stated... very clever use of the left over moulding. I have been building large carcass furniture for 36 years but... as you, I am going to use some left overs and attempt two small boxes for the first time today. I have a feeling I'm probably already over my head before I get started.

I came up working with my Dad framing houses and building decks. My job now involves machining pieces that weigh up to 50 tons.Because of this, working on small pieces sometimes feels awkward to me like Im playing with toys instead of building something
Sarge good luck on your small projects.

A good looking box from scraps. I'm sure she will like her "matching" box

                      Very Cool

I like it a lot! As Sarge said small work is sometimes more difficult than big stuff!

                        Thanks guys,
The only real snag I ran into was getting the inside of the lid to match the angle of the inside of the crown. Its 52 deg. I think. To get it with the blade tilted to 45, I took some of the 1/4 ply and double side taped it the table of the table saw to give it little extra lift on the side away from the blade.I used scrap until I got then angle close then cut the top.It sits about 1/4" down into the box.
