    Desk Clock from Wood Magazine

Just completed the desk clock out of the November issue of Wood magazine. This is a gift for my parents (the people who have everything!). This is my first attempt at something that is not a drawer or bookcase.

The clock body is cocobolo and the base is curly maple (though not as curly as I had thought it would be).

    Thanks for looking.

WOW!!!! Nice piece Scott! That is really nice. At first I thought the cocobolo was claro walnut. What a nice warm body to it! The curly maple is fine, it still shows bands, any more and you would take your focus away from the piece as a whole, imho. You want people to look at the clock and "face" wood, more than the base. Very nice

Cocobolo is a more exotic wood, turners use it quite often ive heard and one also warned us recently of the toxic dust from shaping and sanding the wood. Hope you were careful Scott!

Very nice, I like the flaring curve of the design. I'm sure your parents will love it.

Looks really nice. Also seems like a good use of small scraps. Was it hard to make?
