    Scrap wood violin :)

I was working on another rocking horse in the shop today and my son kept picking up a horse leg and pretending it was a violin. I didn't want the leg to get damaged, but I also wanted him to be able to "play" violin so I banged out this little toy.

He loves it -- even took it to bed with him! So I thought I'd share it.

(He gets the hair from me.)

      Very Cool

Neat idea. Now if it would stay that easy to make him happy for, say, the next 16 years...

That is a musician's haircut. They pay more attention to their craft. Very cool toy, by the way.

Cool violin. Time to get him into a Suzuki class?

Nice looking "violin"! But better than our compliments is his happiness that shows in his face! You did well!

That is very clever Alex and it looks like you have a very happy son there. Are you ever going to get him the real thing? As far as Itzhak Perlman goes, start him as soon as you can. I read a study once that the magic age for having a virtuoso is 12. Kids need to start playing before then.

Thanks everyone -- yeah he's pretty happy with it.

We'll see if his interest persists... we want to pick some instrument for him but right now he seems to be interested in all the expensive ones

                          Cool... love the violin.

my kids play here and my 12 year old has been playing since he was 5.

That's great pictures of your son with the violin.

Priceless. Hope he may some day start playing a real violin for you all.

Thats pretty good, but I bet you made the mistake of gluing the bridge down.

The best part is it doesn't make any noise.
