    My Wife's Bench

My wife wanted a bench large enough to hold 4 people when we have company or our church group once a month. We have been pulling out our dining room chairs to have enough seats. So she handed me a picture and said I want this only longer. Here are the results.I made it from syp and finished it with my home brewed wipe on poly. It's 6' long and 18 1/2" wide. This is my first attempt at uphostelry.

    Very Cool

It looks like you might have a future in the "softer side of life" with seating cushion like that.

That is really nice, both parts, the wood and the upholstery.

How is the shelf underneath put together? Do the slats fit in a groove?

Thank you both for the compliments.

The cushion was one of my wife's big things. It has to be comfortable.

I kinda took the easy way out on the slats.I used the pieces I ripped from the strechers and glued them on the inside, then glued and pin nailed them to this.I figured doubling the stretcher would help stiffen them over the span to help keep them from twisting over time.

I agree with the others, you did a great job on both parts of the project.
