    Potting Bench

My wife didn't realize that she needed a potting bench to help her stay organized in my, er make that our garage.

Plans are from Family Handyman July/August 2000. Since the the bench will stay in the garage, instead of using cedar, I bought regular 2x4 and 2x6 Pine and mixed in some Maple and Oak "scraps" that fit where needed. The plans listed a cost of $300 to $400 for the Cedar and hardware. I spent about $100, of which more was for hardware than for wood.

I added a back to the bench and installed hooks on which to hang the rakes, hoe and shovels. I used a couple coats of water based Poly to seal it all up.

A few details to finish, she hasn't decided exactly how she wants to hang her hand tools.

    thanks for looking,
    Russ

looks very functional. i agree you dont need cedar inside. does it look like you have tools stored on the bottom shelf in the back (i though this was suppose to be a potting bench?).

Nice! I offered to make one for my wife, but she didn't want one. Now the jewerly box, that's a whole different issue!

Simple, frugal and functional. You can't do better than that!

Looks great - I like the overall design, and the planked tabletop is an attractive feature.
