I'm impressed! The contrasting woods and flowing designs are beautiful. Are they your design? You are certaintly thinking outside the box.
I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken.

        Nice. Very nice.

Let me guess... the first one is a fancy egg holder. The second one -- i'm not quite sure -- it look s a little like a place to rest your bottom while throwing back a beer. The last one... hmmm.... well, I'll have to plead the Fifth on the last one.

I like the modern design and the contrasting woods. Nice work.

The woodworker who did these is one of my younger brothers. He is starting semester #3 of a 4 semester woodworking school. He wants to start his own business when he is done.

He already knew some woodworking when he went, at least how to use the tools but the design flair - proportion, lines, etc has always been there. That is all the stuff I can't do.

In high school he decided to try basket weaving in an art class. He wove a horse head that ended up on display in DC for a national student art exhibit. I was at my dad's house the day he decided he wanted to do a chainsaw carving. He got my dad's saw and a log. A couple hrs later using the saw and a regular wood chisel he carved a rabbit munching on some lettuce.

Like Rod said, it is in the same category as the stuff Dave did. Beautiful work but, except for the first piece, a bit too modern for my tastes. Just wish I had that kind of talent!

There is a LOT of talent in your family, David. Not sure I would call his efforts woodwork; art work would be more accurate. Not matter what you call it, it's beautiful.

Very artistic. Very good use of contrast. Not too functional, to be sure, but I doubt that was the intent. Your brother definitely is "out there"...

The first piece looks like a great way to enjoy a bowl of cereal in bed, or soup on the couch, etc. Keeps it nice and level no matter how you sit. The stool is a perfect place to grab a beer. The last?

                      Well, 2 outta 3 ain't bad

I can better enjoy a bowl of cereal on a plastic tray, and not worry about any spillage damaging the tray. And I certainly can't see using those foot rails on the stool without scraping them up. I think to view these as more than inspired artwork would lead to no good.
