Thanks for all the kind comments. I originally made the hammers to be used. But, I got carried away. Of the six I made I have given three away. Two are on display and one is being used in a kitchen.

My original intention was to use the hammer I kept for chisels. The long handle allows you to "choke up" for easy control of the strength of the hit. Since my last response, I have actually used my hammer, to make a mortise that was too large to do on my mortiser. Other than a light hammer tone to the brass face, it worked fine.

Those are exquisite hammers. Sort of embodies the eastern concept that tools should be beautiful to the eye as well as the hand. I figured that they would be used for chisels. Could you also use them to adjust the wedged iron on wooden body planes?
