Colorful Chair for a friend's son

The x-ray tech in our clinic has an autistic child. He loved his old chair but destroyed it in time. She aske me if I could duplicate it. "Sure! I can do that!"

Uh huh. Took 3 weekends. And I won't tell you how many times it took to get the pencil shapes right. Never tried 6-sided and pointed shapes before.

The "eraser" ends are strips of pink rubber, and the metal on the legs is shaped tin cans (used a lot to get them right, but tin cans are cheap).

Anyway, he broke one of the legs off after 2 months so I brought it home to repair, and strengthen. He's hard on his stuff as you can tell by the chips in the paint.

But he loves the thing! Hope this time it lasts longer. If not, NOW I know how to duplicate it again!

That is a very cool chair. Very creative.

Very well done and a very clever idea someone came up with in the design, Paul. And even though a relatively simple design... aren't any chairs easy to make as I found out about a year or so ago. I will leave the art of chair making to the chair-makers in general. But I do understand now why they cost so much.

        Well done...

That is unique, I like it. Nice work.

WELL DONE, Paul! Do you mind if I borrow that design for my grandkids?

            I really like that!

Hey - borrow the design anytime. It's not mine ... so copyright infringement is your responsibility!

(Actually, the chair was purchased overseas. I doubt you'd get sued!)

BTW, if you make one, PLEASE post pics and tell me about any "simple" ways you come up with!

They are actually large pink rubber bands I found at a local Staples.
