Installed a New Mailbox

Have not posted in a while because our daughter has been keeping us busy. We had a decent day today and was able to work on a multiple projects that LOML listed for me to do this summer. Below is a picture of the mailbox that I installed today. This is such an improvement over the old one that the previous owner had put up. The post is a 4 X 4 cedar stained with an oil stain used for decks and fences. The whole thing was put together in less than 2 hours. I know that there was not a whole lot of woodworking involved here but just wanted to share. Also attaching a pic of my 9 month old daughter that's been keeping us busy.

I really like the mailbox. The numbers on the post makes so much sense, and it never occurred to me to do that to ours. Thanks for the idea.

And now the neighbors won't have anything to complain about with the new mail-box. BTW.. Adorable and if you discovered she keeps you busy for 9 months now.. think more like setting aside the the next 20 years or so. And that's the way it is!

Nice job! How did you join the parts? And what is that item at the top? A solar light or so? And what did you use for a footing?

The joints where connected with 1/2" dowels and exterior glue. The cap on the top is a solar light from Malibu. Just thought to add it to accent the copper trim on the actual mailbox. I bought the footing from Menards, it's a painted iron spike that had close to two foot that you have to burry or pound on the ground.

The mailbox is very nice too.
I don't like the overly done mail boxes with too cute box units to hold the mail.
Yours is clean and makes a nice statement. Good Idea on the numbers.
