    Forget Me Not

    Hi

A recently completed commission work. The client wanted a box incorporating the flowers "Forget Me Not".

Ironically this may be my last post for some months as we are hoping to sell and build a new home whilst living in rented accommodation, if luck is on our side yes I will have workshop space, but? and hopefully internet connection will also be available?

Interesting and unique box, Tony. Don't remember seeing one that had carvings on it.

Okay, you've now crossed the line. That's artwork that just happens to be made out of wood.
Beautiful work Tony, simply beautiful. How long does it take you to make a box like that?

Very nice, Tony. How the heck does the "stand" fix to the box?

It looks like the flowers on the sides of the stand are fixed to the box?

              Beautiful work Tony!

Thank you everyone for the warm messages.

The box was made from one block of Australian Red Cedar. The outline shape and drawer was done as a normal bandsawn box. The flowers were carved by hand. (I doubt if a carving machine could do that?) Time to complete, I did not have the clock running - probably about 60 hours.

That makes me want to sell all my tools and hang myself for ever thinking I could do woodwork. Beautiful work Tony!

Pretty slick Tony … like the carving a lot adds a whole new dimension!

Thank you John, should I send you a private message now to forward plan your travel arrangements. Bytheway, in the new home I will be working in a "studio". (we've got some fairly narrow minded building regulations and inspectors)
