Stool (Kirby style)

I have been known to snooze during the day When I do that I like to have a glass of water handy - and my cordless phone.

I came up with this idea and although LOML insisted on it being painted, she liked it. I now have an order for 4 more

This has to be the easiest project you will make - and the design should offer a number of other possibilities...

Four identical "legs" around a 1-3/4" square center column (all clear pine), MDF (what else) top - no hardware - all Titebond II glued

Simple, clever, looks good, too. I could imagine doing something similar with pieces of solid wood flooring I'm collecting.

Some of us in this part of the world call them end tables or side tables (a stool is for sittin' on).

I may have to make on of those for my recliner. I too have been know to take a nap in the afternoon, like everyday. Good Design Rod, sleep well.

Just one little note for future thread titles - my wife is a dietician, so when I read or hear the word stool, unfortunately something else comes to mind....

Clever and very functional.. If you don't mind me asking... what type wood did you use there? Looks similar to our yellow pine without as much yellow from what I can tell...

Again just curious as I saw several very nice species you guys grow at an Exotic Dealer here in Atlanta recently. Very high dollar for us with the price of importing though.

Absolutely use the design - FREE. I always hope whatever I post will prompt a "Hmmm"

Guilty as charged, Rod. I was most definitely in a hurry as I'm neck deep in Dovetail clean-up at the moment. Sorry about that.

Definitely NOT with a 2 year old around - or an accident prone xx year old It's quite heavy, and on carpet, "easily" knocked over.

Having said that - if you made short legs, that extended out more from the base...
