    Baby Crib From My Shop

I made this crib for my baby girl. Materials used where Maple stained with dark cherry stain from General Finish and 5 coats of water based poly. Crib was finished since August but finally had the nerve to post it.

Thanks to Crokett for the plan!!

H*ll of a nice job on the MT's (assuming that is the case), molding treatment and the finish. It really looks fine for "daddies baby girl". That one can be passed down to daddies new grand-baby in a lot fewer years than you can imagine at the moment.

Can we say you may be onto one to those family "heir-looms" that makes the rounds for generations to come. If ya have two baby girls... you can watch them fight over who gets it down the road also.

Again.... excellent from stem to stern and fore and aft!

Looks great to me, I see no reason to be worried about posting, you did a good job.

Mortise and Tenons on this crib was a pain but it was all worth it. I used my Delta 14-651 bench top mortiser and sharpen me chisel bit twice during the process. Tenons were made with the simple jig I found on Fine Woodworking.

sweet mortise & tenon joints and an amazing finish job!

i was going to ask for you to post the mortise & tenon joint shots of the vertical slat, but it seem you have already done that.

my question: did you cut a tenon into the ends of the vertical slats or did they complete slide into the mortise?

                    one lucky baby!

Vertical slats were not a complete slide into the mortise. I had to build a jig to cut the tenons on the vertical slats. I use the same jig for cutting the tenons on the horizontal piece that holds the vertical slats. Below is the jig I made and it work flawlessly.
