    More Christmas presents

This time for my grandsons. Two of the boxes are red sycamore and the other is walnut, all made from 8/4 stock. All the knife handles are cocobolo and 2 of the kits are from Texas knifemakers supply and the other from WoodCraft.

Very... very nice Don. And if I know anything about male grand-sons... the boxs will see very little of those excellent knives.

The boxes are basically "bandsaw" boxes. I took 8/4 (milled to 1 3/4") stock, cut it to size, used the band saw to cut a 1/4" thick piece from the bottom and a 1//2" piece (the lid) from the top then traced the outline of the knife on the remaining piece, bandsawed out the outline. Sanded the cutout good then glued the bottom back on, finished both parts and attached the lid with small brass hinges.

Cool presents. I like the shape of the boxes. More interesting than the regular rectangular box.
