Here is the first.... for my Nephew the Harry Potter Fan

    Wand = East Indian Rosewood
Case = Maple + East India Rosewood
Lettering = Laser engraved by coworker

Awesome work! You have a very lucky Nephew.

    Thanks for sharing!

Very nice! Makes my wands look bad by comparison. The box is pretty awesome as well, he'll be thrilled I'm sure. I may steal the idea, and make wands for my Niece and Nephew.

            Hoakie -

While the wand, with its "wanderful" turnings, transitions and proportions is the gift - it's the presentation case that puts the icing on the cake. What a great extra touch!

            Neat.

Thanks all, I really had fun making it. Since there seemed to be interest in the case, I added a different view to display its shape a bit better. I borrowed the idea off of some pen making site and adapted it to my needs

The only issue now is that I just started turning a month ago, and the mini lathe I am using is on loan through Xmas from the gentleman who engraved the case. Now that I'm addicted, I hope Santa finds it in his heart to help me so I don't get strung out.

Now that I see how the case is hinged, I like it even better. Thanks for the additional post.

Then here is an eBay auction you should check out, particularly if you are on a budget. Better hurry, it ends today.

Also, the Rikon mini is flying off the shelves at Woodcraft for $250. That's a really nice one.

I would but I'm currently in "no buy" mode for myself. I did that once and got one of the gifts SWMBO purchased for Xmas. I will NOT make that mistake again

But thanks for looking out for me

                      Looks great!

Much better than the "official" ones that the marketing companies sell. Looks like what I would expet a wand to look like (the "official" ones look like twigs....)

Very nice case to go with it too.

Very nice turning for only doing it for a month. Your new turning addiction is why I am not in a hurry to tune up the lathe at my dad's house. I am afraid I will start spending all my time over there, work will suffer, etc.
