A chef-friend mentioned that he wanted to start a collection of rolling pins, so I turned one and "kicked it up a notch." He cooked at our house for two nights of dinner parties to celebrate the completion of our remodel. I presented it to him after the second dinner.

It is Jatoba (I think) and hard maple. Finished with mineral oil. Body 14" long, 3" diam; handles 4-1/2".
No surprises or problems other than difficulty of turning the body perfectly flat. After getting as flat as I could with roughing gouge, I used a card scraper and a hard rubber sanding block to get the final level. Never learned how to use a skew chisel - didn't want to learn on this piece.
