    Wands

A coworker who saw my pens asked if I could do something larger. So he asked for me to make some wands for his kids. I don't forsee doing this again any time soon, but it was an interesting project.

Looks very good, did you use any pattern? I especially like the one in the foreground.
I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken.

Nice work, and they came out great. I'm just thinking that it's a perfect "toy" to poke an eye out. Whaddya think? Hey, you know what kids are like...I'm an adult and I still run around with a scissors in my hand.

No patterns. Just a note from the guy that the handle should probably be about 4" long, which leaves 8" for the narrower part.

I did note that I carry no liability to how the wands are used...

            Very nice looking work.

I just got a Wilton mini lathe on loan from a co-worker to see if I'd like it. Big mistake, I'm going to have another slippery slope to slide down now. Your post inspired me to try a wand (both boys and nephew are huge Harry Potter fans). It isn't as nice as yours but I thought it turned out OK.

and the difference between getting a handmade wooden wand and a cheap chinese made plastic "official harry potter" wand is???????? you won't get lead poisoning form the wooden one, but both can poke out your eye.

Parents have to make sure their kids use them appropriately. The couple I have on ebay I say something to that effect in the listing.

                nice job Bigguy.

I'll bet there are some pretty happy wizards in your neighborhood. Do you think that you could get a package deal on a few hundred, perfectly outfitted woodshops?? I think that we could get a few more wands turned out for their troubles! All fun aside, nice job.
                  Blessings,
