    Cd Case

I just finished this today, it's a cd case that holds more cd's than I'll ever own
It's all mdf except for the doors which are pg maple with mullions and glass. The doors slide open and closed in two grooves cut in the top and bottom of the case. I made 1/8" x 1" rabbits in the backs of the doors at top and bottom then milled maple strips 1/8" x 1 1/2" for the bottom and 1/8" x 1 5/8" for the top and fastened them in the rabbits on the doors. The top groove is deeper than the bottom so the doors can be raised up into the top groove and the bottom comes out of its groove allowing the doors to be removed. The shelves were notched on the front then slid into stopped dado's from the back then the back was put on . All in all a fun project that only took a couple of days to finish.

Wow -- That is nice looking. I was trying to count how many CDs would fit in there and stopped when I got to a million.

Nice work. Plenty of space for CD's and the wife's knick-knacks!

Hi cabinetman, thanks for the kind words. The finish is ML Campbell water white vinyl sealer tinted to "white dove" followed by 2 coats of ML Campbell magnamax "dull". Sanded with 320 and steel wool between coats.

Did you mean "Magnalac" pre cat lacquer?

No, it's not "magnalac" it's actualy called "magnamax" it is a pre cat. Magnamax hasn't been on the market as long as magnalac it's one of mL's newer products and I use it almost exclusively as my top coat. It sprays great and dries very fast (20-30 min).
