About 40 years ago, my FIL served in Vietnam. About 20 years ago, my MIL and FIL divorsed. Several times over the last several years, my FIL asked my wife and her siblings if they knew where his old Army uniform was - and they had never seen it. Last fall, my wife visited her mother and was helping her go through some old boxes and they found the uniform and dog tags.
We visited my FIL the week of the 4th, and my wife planned to give him the uniform then. About 3 weeks prior to our departure, she found some commercially available display cases online and they were expensive, she asked me if I could build one in time, for less money and this is what I came up with. I don't know that I saved much money, due to the fact that I had to ship it to her father because we used air travel - but I'm proud that I was able to be a part of this. (Obviously, the uniform will be straightened and pinned whenever it ends up on a wall, and there is glare/reflection on the plexi.)
