    First post of a project

At the insistance of the wife I'm posting the shoe rack that I had promised her for two years, finally completing it this past winter. I love doing building but my gut is in a knot while getting ready to post this.
The wood is, of course, cherry with a Varathane stain and MinWax polyacrylic topcoat. The raised panels were a cheat since I don't have a RP cutter. Here goes and thanks for your patience while I was nervously building my first raised panel project.

      Nice Work!

But it would never be big enough for LOML shoes!

      (P.S. - Don't tell her I said that!)

I read this to my wife and she said, "I hope he doesn't think that all my shoes would fit either". Women (in general) have pride of their shoe collection like woodworkers do about their tools (I'm including both genders in the tool lovers). No gender snub intended, here.

Looks great, you did a good job. I love cherry with a natural finish. I've got a few boards of curly cherry that would make a beautiful "something", trouble is I can't find a project worthy of cutting up the boards

Thanks folks! I owe it all to the wood. You'll notice that the panel is one piece. Nice figuring. The raised panel 'cheat' is that I cut the edges with a 3/4" cove bit. Then, I discovered that it recessed into to rails and stiles so deep I lost the raised effect. So, I glued 1/4" strips on all fours sides of the panel after reducing both dimensions by that same amount. Voila! Raised panel cheat. Since the add-ons are hidden in the dados you can't tell. Yea, kinda hokey but it worked for the application.

Very nice work. You need to do more and post it. Nothing but good looking work in that piece.

Very nice. I like the finish. It gives the Cherry a nice color w/o making it so dark you can't appreciate it. And your finishing job didn't get blotchy, either. Very nice. I could use one of those, BTW. A wife and two daughters and they all love shoes.

Chiz, if everything is you make is half as nice as this, you have no reason to get nervous over posting your work!

I could use one of those, BTW. A wife and two daughters and they all love shoes.
