    'nuther jewelry box

There seems to be a lot of these posted here. Most of my woodworking is done to fix up our 100 year old home. But with a neighbor's daughter about to turn 18, I wanted to try something she might like.

The sides are bubinga with an oiled finish. The top is quilted maple veneer with amber dye and lacquer finish. I carved the letters into the top with X-acto knives and an engraving tool, then filled them with black epoxy from a syringe.

The drawer bottoms are lined with burgundy velvet. I was pleased that the drawers operated so smoothly...I really expected them to bind or stick in operation.

Of course the new owner is the real work of art, here.

Nice, real nice. One of the best I've seen here. I'm sure Hannah is going to cherish it.

Looks really great! Love how you maintained the grain patterns on the front, too.

Beautiful piece of work, both the box and the recipient!

Very nice work. I liked the way the name turned out on it. I am thinking something like that for our daughter for christmas or something.

                    Beautiful work.

Very nice work on this box. It looks great.

As far as doing the letter work with an X-acto knife, well, you are a patient man. Very nicely done.
