    My best one yet...

This the eighth one I've done, and it's the best one yet. It is a weight well, which is an exercise device used in a hand therapy clinic. My day job is physical therapy, specializing in hand & upper extremity injuries.

This is an original design, unique in that it is free-standing, height-adjustable, and has dual spring-loaded ratchet pawls. This is the first one with box joints, which were done with Lynn's Box Joint Jig, which worked great. http://www.leestyron.com/newlynnjig.php
It's all oak, except for poplar rungs on the ladder-back. It's also sold, and I'm reluctant to part with it, but oh well, it's really not suitable living room furniture.

Outstanding. There is just something about wooden gears that I love.

You attach a weight to the end of the rope, and then using wrist and/or forearm action you rotate the shaft to wind up the rope, which raises the weight, like raising a bucket of water out of a well (hence the name).

A beautiful piece of craftsmanship that will give the patients a feeling of being in less of a sterile/clinic atmosphere!

My wife is a physical therapist and teaches it at a local college. I'm gonna show her this tonight. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
