    Entryway Bench

My first "major" project is finished! This is an entryway bench inspired by a piece we found in a popular retail store (PB).

Thanks to many of you who helped me work through some challenging design, joinery, and finishing issues. I'm impressed with the level of expertise available on this forum and appreciate all the assistance.

Great looking bench! Thanks for your comments on building it as well. When the LOML sees this I know what I'll be making next!

Very nice indeed! I like the why you used the wicker baskets in the design.

                    Looks great.

I love that cherry "shimmer"...I bet it looks amazing in person, especially in the sunlight.

Also looks terrific for a 1st major project. I think I detect some panel glue ups involved, as well as some bandsaw work? Certainly has a professional look to it.

A beautiful piece. I really like the mix of basket, wood, and the upholstery. Nicely done.

Thanks to all for the complimentary words.

Garasaki--yes, the cherry does shimmer in the sunlight. I'm very pleased with the finish.

Just to be clear, the baskets and cushion were purchased; but I did build the bench to size so they would fit.

                        Regards,

Beats the heck out of a PB piece. Great job, love the finish.
