    Butterfly box

This is another one from the UBSBB, I started out using Formby's but the finish kept coming out mottled on the cherry. Gave up and went back to the old standby...Deft, one coat of sanding sealer and two coats of gloss. Wings are cherry, body is rosewood and the box is cypress.

      Another winner!!
I have that book but as of yet haven't tried any of the boxes but need to get started. I hope mine turn out half as good as yours.

The eyes are too big, it looks like a moth!

That looks better than the one in the book, Pat. You nailed that box, it's excellent.

Beautiful! Can't show it to my wife or I'd have to make a few (might do that anyway though).

I don't see a glue line for the bottom, did you route the inside out?

            Thanks

              Can you say DIFFERENT!?!?

I assume the body locks the 'wings' closed.

Glad I'm not the only one wonder what the heck are they talking about.

Looks Great!! Never saw anything like it before. I can see where it would keep people out that didn't know how to properly open it.

Gerti... got real lucky on the glue line.
Yeah Pap, body locks the wings, I sure wish I were creative enough to come up with this stuff on my own but....

That is really neat Pat. I was surprised when I saw the picture; from the title, I thought it was an actual butterfly box. You know, like a birdhouse.

The way it opens is really nice.

That is beautiful. I have got to get time to practice so, maybe one day, I can make some that are that nice.
