    Cedar planters

Together with a good friend (who also uses a BT3000), we made 7 planters - 3 likes those in the picture and 4 square ones. About half the wood is recycled fence boards. The project was fun but took longer than we expected. The planters pictured are about 30" long - built to fit/hide the green plastic planter liners we've had for years.

Nice job. I like the variation of tones for the slats.

I like the "bow" at the bottom - a bit more work, but it really adds flair.

How did you cut them? (Did you come up with a jig, or was each one "free-hand")?

Now you've gone and done it; I'll have to take the link to BT3 central off my favorites list. If LOML sees those, I'll be building planters!

All kidding aside, those look real nice and really would dress up my patio!

You guys did a great job.
Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that! -Rocky Balboa-

                        Thanks for the kind words.

Brian G. - Yeah, the boards had great colour variation. The old fence was amazing wood under all the black and grey. You can also see the first side we put together (with the darker pieces grouped together) where we were just grabbing off the pile. We made a point to mix it up a bit after that one.

Slik Geek - I drew the planter on the computer and played with the porportions until it looked right. I printed out the arch pieces then traced out one of each lenght and cut them with a jigsaw. Then I used those to trace out the rest. All 28 arched pieces were cut with the jigsaw. Actually 34 pieces because I screwed up and made too many of one size. It probably took a couple hours.
