    Mission Bench

    I just finished this bench, it is my first attempt at furniture. I used quartersawn red oak. I'm quite pleased with the results.

                          That is GREAT! How did you do the finish? I love that mission look but have heard that the finish, done with ammonia, is dangerous? Very Nice!!

                            I did the finish with polymerized tung oil (Lee Valley Tools) http://www.leevalley.com. I used a medium luster mixture and applied 7 coats. Rubbed each coat on with fine steel wool, then wiped off with a dry clean cloth after 20 minutes.
