    Oak Tambour And Corian Kitchen

This kitchen was done in the early seventies when Corian first came out. The color in the pictures is washed out by flourescent lighting.
The first picture shows the hood fan grouping.

The next picture has pull outs, with a pot and pan lid pull out.

This picture shows the roll top desk.

The next picture is the ceiling that is done with bookmatched and sequenced oak. The trim rings on the high hats were made out of solid oak. The small storage doors on the right lift up and lock and each opening has a pull out shelf.

This side of the counter is sometimes used as an eating bar top.

This is the pantry wall, with roll top for bread/appliance storage.

Full size pantry with swing outs and storage behind.

That's pretty amazing for the early '70's...way ahead of it's time with the rollout shelves and Corian. Most kitchens from that era (and later) look much more dated.

That was my thought too. The cabinets looked 70's/modern style, but with functionality that I think of as being much newer, even wood grain covers for the fridge and dishwasher. Those old-school ovens/microwaves definately date the room though.

Craftsmanship and creativity are ageless. I found this kitchen to be a challenge at the time to create a "custom" look. These pictures are a better angle of the pantry wall.

If those photos were cleaned up and the appliances were updated I would not have known I was looking at a 70's kitchen.

Kind of reminds me of the galley in HIGH priced mega boats. I like it!
