    Jewelry Box

Had some two tone cherry in the lumber rack and decided to make a jewelry box from it. I played with some of the scrap to see what stain would enhance the colors and found that a pine stain was just the thing. The finish is poly.

This view of thew back shows off the way the stain accented the light and dark wood tones.

Thes are for hanging necklaces. There are pins in the case that prevent the drawer from sliding all the way out.

The lid is attached with barrel hinges.

    Very Nice

Nice looking chest. How did you do the drawers. I have been making jewelry boxes but haven't tackled one with drawers yet.

The drawers are done with rabbits cut into the drawer face and the sides, the back is not rabbited and a dado is cut in all 4 pieces for the bottom to slide into. Here is a photo of the type of cuts. It is from a different box but the style is the same.

If you folks think it looks good, you ought to see it in real life! I had the privilege of seeing it last night. Nothing short of fantastic!

Now that’s impressive … the three upright drawers are certainly a unique feature.

No but I have been reading on how to make them and will have to do so one of these days.
