First Project

I am brand new to WW but I got a BT3000 last week because of this site and I wanted to show off my first real project. I completed my workbench today based on the NYW book. I have to find a vise for it but I have the block in place and the holes for the bench dogs drilled out. You can see my miter saw table I put together in the link too. Next up I need to build a table for my new BT saw!

Pretty good for the first thing! Looks like you made it out of 2x6 pine, correct?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like a traditional ww bench (shaving tray and intergrated dog vice), but isn't it rotated backwards? Like it's not in the final positions?

Ya I just set it all up in there. I have not figured out how I am going to arrange it all. Its made out of pine and lined with ash.

There's something very special about a first bench. I built mine when my tool inventory was about as close to zero as it could get, so I was really proud when it was completed.

I think you (and "the mature woodworker") did a really great job. That bench should serve you well for many years!

Thanks for all the kind words. I had a lot of fun making it. I gotta see if I can get to the store before the ice storm hits us today. Going to be froze in the house for a long weekend and I need to get some stuff to tear into!

Yes indeed, very nice looking table. The center of any work shop. It looks like it'll last you forever or until you decide to replace it if you ever would. Enjoy!
