    Almost finished

I ran out of time before Christmas to get this finished. Frankly, I haven't had enough time after she goes to sleep, to take from her and finish it. She won't let it out of her site.

This has made the best Christmas I have ever had. Just being able to give it to my youngest daughter. I only wish I could have done things like this for the others when they were younger.

    Thanks for looking,
    Bigdaddyjohn

Excellent job, BDJohn!! As a newbie to this hobby and somebody that is hopefully going to have an addition to our family, this is one of the many things that I cannot wait to experience. PRICELESS MOMENTS!

Looks like you have the approval of the only one that matters, John! Maybe do some stain/paint samples and let her help decide on the finish.

It may be too late for this type of gift for your older kids, but there are still lots of things you can make for them.

That happy little girl makes all the effort worth wild. I'd say that smile values the pony at about $1,000,000!

Nice job. I'll need to make one of these in a few years. How old is your daughter? Did you buy a plan for this?
            Thanks again,
            Mike

Yes, I bought the plans. PlansNow version. Several things I don't like about the project/plans. Mainly the way the "wedge" that splays the legs outward, is made. What a pain. Very hard to cut 18 identical wedges at the angles specified. But you can figure it out eventually. However, the plans specify the wrong size wood. You have to make those pieces out of the 2x12, not the 1x12. Ask me how I know.

Also, don't cut the recessed supports for the legs. Instead, place the supports on top of the rockers. As shown, I cut the supports into the rockers. That only weakens the pine rockers. I will be cutting another set of rockers and will not do that again. My wife accidentally kicked the distal end of the rocker while walking by and it broke off! Easily glued back together but I will be replacing. (Emma was asleep so she doesn't know the horse had a broken part.) Besides, I hate to explain the broken leg and the glue factory to my little 19 month old daughter (lol).
