    Christmas Presents

I didn't do well in the shop for Christmas this year. Between work, bad weather, and trips to SA on my days off in December for the wife's dental appointments I didn't get most of the gifts finished. Hopefully I can correct that this weekend.

With both my boys getting married this year, I suddenly found myself with grand kids. The 2 older ones, both teens are spending the week with their father and know I will have somethingf for them when they get back. The adults are after that in the pecking order.

The younger 2 were the ones I wanted to make sure got their gifts on time. Nicholas is 3 and I was a little concerned this would be too old for him, and he was a bit confused at first.

He sure doesn't look camera shy in those pictures..

I like that, a couple of questions though, are there plans for it and what do you call it? I think something like that for Thomas would be cool.

The plans for the Tongue Drum came from Wood magazine. Amazing the sound it makes. I made this one from Cherry and White Oak.

          You got it Thom!

The other one I wanted to be sure was ready was for for my 8 year old Grand daughter, not that I really like her very much!

They came over Christmas afternoon and she wanted to pass out the presents. After she was through I had to tell her she wasn't a very good 'Santa'.

Grandpa's present for her was in plain view in the chair next to the tree.

Let me guess you just glanced at the magazine 5 months ago. Then looked at it closer AFTER you got the drum done.

              Looks great pappy!!

The bed looks amazing!! From the last picture I would think it was a full size bed. Did you have to use magnifying glasses/lamp to work with it?

I grabbed a copy of that one, I need to make myself one of those log drums, perhaps a couple for friends. My guitar player has one that he purchased. Good job on it! The bed is fantastic as well, hard to work on that scale, I'm sure.

No wonder they were so happy.

Very, very well done Don. Putting smiles on kids faces is what Christmas is all about, and you certainly did that excellently.

Pappy, you really have the spirit of Christmas wired. Wonderful job on both gifts.

Great job as usual Don. These are gifts that can be passed down for generations.

Curious, what did you put on the end of the drumsticks, superballs?
