    Vitrina

    Good day

Vitrina = Display cabinet in Polish and a few other European languages (also a shop display window) Please read the "I' as "ee" like in Bee.

It's the same design and designer as for the TV stand.
    3 separate units
Oak 1", dowels, PU glue, stain and clear Varnish.

If you wonder why the glass cabinet door is opening to the "wrong" direction, that's because nothing is stationary in our house. I made it for some specific location but SWMBO decided to move it to other location, so the door is opening to the other side.

Lately we moved it to other corner and the door is opening to the "normal" side, you can see it on the last picture.

BTW, at the same time you can see my CS guide and the Router table top...sorry...I mean the floor...

    Regards
    niki

Very nice work I like it alot. About the door opening on the wrong side though, couldn't you have taken out the glass shelves and turned it upside down and reinstalled the shelves? It looks symetrical in the pictures. Great project, I like the finish on it, reminds me of the built-ins in pittsburgh four-square houses form the 1930's.

Looks great Niki. Why not make another one with the door opening the other way.

I could turn the glass unit upside-down but than I had to turn upside-down also the door of the cabinet below.
And, because I knew that it's not the final location of the unit, I left it and waited patiently...

I know that you are joking but I really work without any "plans", only some piece of paper with general dimensions stick to the garage door.

I never make a "cutting list" for all the unit. First, I make the carcass and than measure and make the doors or drawers, that minimises mistakes (not that I don't have) and miscalculations...

Beautiful, niki. The rays in the wood really make the whole assembly go togerther.

I have to admit tho, When I saw the thread title I thought it should be in the Coffee Pot forum. Vitrina sounds like a new ED product!(or maybe in the Getting Started forum????? ;-D

                            Niki,
What a beautiful piece to match your (understatedly called) TV stand.

That display case is so simple it is elegant.

I have to give a nod to your wife for her design too. I have spent a lot of time on a small project and not been happy with the results due to poor proportioning on my part. With you wife to guide you in this area that should never be a problem.

                            Great work.

May be you can do like I do for my wife. I cut a few widths of cardboard and she is deciding on the door frames width.

Have a look at this site for design concepts, standard heights of furniture, planning and much more
