    Serving Tray

Here is a serving tray, I just made. It's really nothing special in the design or construction. Size wise it's 12"x 16" x 5/8", all long grain with finger cuts cut with a router and a cove cutter and small metal ball feet. What makes this special is the wood. It's some of the nicest looking Ambrosia Maple I've seen in a long time. Unfortunately I was only able to get one piece appox 5" x 6' @ 4/4 or around 2BF. Wished I could of gotten 100 BF or so of this.

          That really does look good.

It's funny to see this here because I had never seen Ambrosia maple before today. Woodcraft had a bunch of it in their little lumber section.

Since this is a serving tray and food might touch it, I used a food safe finish. "Mineral Oil". Just flooded it, let sit, wiped off the excess and let sit for a day and let the oil absorb.
