    Screened Porch

Well...this isn't quite a finished project, but I was wanting to brag a bit. I am in the process of building a house (HUGE project). I did all the woodwork on the screened porch in the back with cedar. I won't install the screen until near the end of construction. In the 2nd photo, you can see the roof of my shop (or home#2).

Very nice. Got to get around to doing that myself, one of these days, but mine is to frame in a slab patio. Probably a bit easier than working nine feet in the air, I'd hazard a guess...
      Measure it with a micrometer...
      Mark it with a crayon...
Cut it with a chain saw!

Nice work! You will need to stain it to provide UV protection unless you want it to go gray on you. From experience...don't trust store samples. Take some cut-offs with you and test the different colors.

Wow! If the porch is any indication, the house wil be grand. Great work.

                          Sweet!

Great looking project. I am also installing a porch similiar to yours (though not so darn high up in the air).... wondering how you are finishing your ceiling...

The ceiling is the same T&G cedar as the lower walls. Everything coated with 2 coats of Helmsman spar urethane. It really wasn't any harder working that high up, either. I built the frame of the deck off ladders (with some help), put the posts under it, and from then on it was cake. Decking it and all the cedar work was done from on top of the deck.
