    Fireplace Project Finished

Here you go. Just to get an idea on scale from the left edge of the hearth to the wood on the right is almost exactly 6'.

The woodstove was free but very rusty. I took the rust off, replaced the glass, rewired the blowers and replaced all the gaskets. Have about 8hrs and a shade under 90 bucks in the stove. The high-temp glass is tres chic. I also repainted the hearth grilles to match the stove.

I kept the top to the original mantel and built around it. It is 5/4 stock and I liked the edge detail. Also took out the gas logs and cut out the andirons that were original to the fireplace. I don't plan on resurfacing any bricks again any time soon.Projects remaining are to finish the trim and straighten a bent handle on the door. One day I will replace the black wood handles with stained ones.

Now I understand why you don’t have time for WW.
How long to go for the “2 years”.

I made a few tiling and plastering jobs in my house, and I know how tough it is especially sitting on your knees and “eating” all the dust and…...I prefer woodworking.
