such pretty wood in the hands of an amateur

I posted about this project awhile ago, I had split the lid while bending it, but managed to salvage that. Then I cut the lid off 1" higher than I intended and left myself with nowhere to mount hinges like originally intended. I was so ticked off that this project got thrown in the corner and very nearly became firewood on several occassions, but I just couldn't bring myself to burn such beautiful wood. So I decided to just drill locator pins for the lid and call it done. I then drilled them wrong TWICE (this project just kicked my arse no matter what I did) but I still decided to slap lacquer on it and see how it turned out.

Well, at least the wood makes up for my lack of ability ......

If it ain't broke.. don't fix it!!!... but you can always 'hop it up'

Wow. That is beautiful. I remember hassling, er, discussing possible fixes in the chat room. Locator pins is one approach I would not have thought of. Great work Thom.

Looks great, I hope I can get to that level one day.

Next time you want to get rid of "firewood" you can just ship it to me.

Appears to be a problem with the link. After I looked at the pics I cambe back last night and had problems. If you right click where the picture is supposed to be then click properties it will show you the link. you can paste that into a new browser window. I tried that and got a message saying the page can't be displayed.

The pictures didn't come earlier when I was on. Now I see why!

Not only did Thom post a finished project, but a beautiful one at that. The server was totally confused as to what to do. It's a wonder the whole web didn't go down!
