    Ash Cradle

Well, if this works, this is the cradle I finished at the end of August, just in time for the occupants arrival on Sept 2.

I wish the finish showed up better in a foto. It's lacquer over a blended stain, what's cool is I added gold shimmer pearl to the lacquer for the first 3 of 6 coats.

Looks fantastic. If you come up with a shot that shows off that shimmer finish, I'd really like to see it.

    And congrats.

I either need a warm day or an early spring, I think the only way a picture will show it is outside in sunlight with the flash off.

      and thanx

        Nice job!

There was a recent thread on why ash doesn't seem to be used as much as other woods. Well, this is an awesome example why it should be!

        Congrats on the new arrival!

I have seen Ash do a real good impersonation of Oak, and for less $$

Nice looking cradle. I, too, would like to see how the finish came out. Sounds like an interesting idea.

Beautiful cradle, and just in time!

I don't know about this gold shimmer pearl stuff, though. What is it, where do you get it, what's it do?

Go to paintwithpearl.com, that's where I got the shimmer gold from. They have some really good fotos of the products on automobiles. Pearl is from the auto painting industry, it's the little sparkles in the clear coat. There are some amazing effects it is used for in custom auto painting, I figured it would look cool on wood, and the gold really does
