Sorry, Don - I'll try to be more detailed and not to skip over stuff in future!

The wood was already pressure treated (tannalised), so the coating used was mainly for the color. It was Cuprinol Wood Preserver. I didn't take much notice what the color was called, as it was supplied by my friend. Won't come out of my shirts, though!

I gave the depth of sinking into the ground for an idea of the ratio above/below ground level - didn't mean to imply that they were only sunk into earth. The post holes were dug as close to 12" square and 28" deep as I could get. A bit of gravel in the bottom, then the treated post, then Blue Circle Postcrete from Lafarge Cement (2 bags per post).

Thanks to all for the kind comments - much appreciated!

    Ray.

Great job, Ray. Sorry about the late night "insect" problem.

Very nice! That will probably last quite a bit longer than some houses do over here!

Good show, Ray! Just enough to make the fence outstanding but not garish. Extremely nice detail. Bet the neighbors are envious.

Beautiful job, Ray! I'm not used to seeing fences where changes in total height are handled via slanting tops rather than staircasing the sections at the posts. I'm not sure which I prefer. The turned caps are a great touch, in either case!

We certainly do, Ken. In case you thought that there was some sort of power tool involved, here's what I used:

Excellent work as usual, Ray. The turned finials were a very nice personal touch. Thanks for sharing!
