Finally put a finish on my cedar bench

After thinking about how, or whether, to finish the cedar bench I built this summer, I finally decided to apply a penetrating oil. I used Sikken's Cetol 1 in a 'Natural' tone. Here's the before and after pic:

Makes a big -- and positive -- difference to have that warm color! I really like that design.

The after pic solidified my decision on a project. Nice job! BTW, how thick are your back slats - 1/2"??

In my humble opinion, you made a GREAT choice. The bench ewas was beautiful before, now it's stunning.

Thanks for the compliments - much appreciated!

The back slats are acually 3/4" thick. The rails are 1 1/4" thick.

Good choice with the oil finish. It really brings out the color and grain, looks beautiful. I always anticipate the moment I start wiping on the oil and see the piece transform into a "finished look". It's going to be easy to maintain.

Looks extremely nice, Rick. A question, do you guys bring outdoor furniture into the "igloo" in winter or leave it outside? Just curious as to how it endures outside with the snow and ice in winter?
                          Again.. nice piece!

                          Regards...
