I finished my first project. It is an elevated dog feeder. I am pleased with how it turned out. Having seen all the amazing woodworking on this site inspires me to continue to improve my skills. I also want to thank Ken Massingale for his suggestion for the finish. This site is the best out there.

Nice looking Dog Feeder, finish looks excelent.
I own three dogs and I just have one question.....There's one dish for Food, another for Water.....what's the third dish for?
Sorry to be so ignorant but I really would like to know.Stop thinking why you can't and Start thinking how you CAN!

Now, I'll join Gmack on what's the 3rd bowl for? I have never seen an elevated dog feeder before. My dogs over the years have never ask for one and I'm not mentioning it to them in fear of it might show up on a Xmas list.
I have seen something similar though. In VN, similar pieces were built in base-camp without the bowls and had cut down 55 gallon drums placed underneath. You poured diesel fuel in them when full and burned the contents.
Now.. with the refinement your piece shows, I know what the General's looked like! :>)
Just kiddin' of course... nice work and the finish looks great..

I have two dogs. The third bowl is a second food dish. They really seem to like not having to bend as far to eat and drink since they are both getting older.\"Experience is the toughest teacher. You get the test first and the lesson later.\"Comment

It is in the thumb (for those of you who don't live in Michigan, it is shaped like a mitten and when you ask anyone where they are from they always point to their hand). It is about two hours away from Sylvania.\"Experience is the toughest teacher. You get the test first and the lesson later.\"Comment

Very nice!
Tell us a little more about it. What kind of wood, how did you make the legs, how is everything attached, etc."Success is gettin' what you want; Happiness is wantin' what you get." - Brother Dave Gardner (1926-1983)Comment

The top and aprons are oak plywood with edge banding. The legs are solid oak and it was assembled using pocket screws. It was actually very simple to make. It was finished with Watco Danish Oil-Golden Oak.\"Experience is the toughest teacher. You get the test first and the lesson later.\"Comment
