    Daughters new product table

This is the finished product and the detailed drawing that she submitted. She wanted it to look like a "new antique" whatever that is. The frame is M&T'ed pine and poplar and the top is clear pine. It took me over an hour to find the 4 boards that make up the top at the local HD. The black finish is flat black spray paint rubbed out with a green Scotchbrite pad and then buffed out with a rough towel. These pictures don't show the full effect and it looks much nicer on a wood with an open grain like oak. Give it a try on a piece of scrap sometime. You may just like it enough to use it on something you create.
    Thanks for looking.

The table looks great!! Excellent work!! If you don't mind me asking, after everything is done, how much did everything cost? I am interested in making a clone. Thanks!

Hmmm, the lower shelf doesn't quite have the ripple that was called out in the drawing...but, otherwise, looks great!

                  Regards,

My kind of plans! Allow for a lot of 'Artistic license'!

Another way to get a nice black sheen is to start with Krylon Semi-Flat black and buff it out. I prefer the white pads. A lot less agressive.

The table came out great. I've tried the black thing and yours looks real good even in pictures. It's worth the time to pick your stock.
