    daughter's bookcase

This is an MDF bookcase inspired by item in pottery barn catalog. The joints are stopped dados with the roof peak done with a spline cut on the saw. I don't remember the book I got the jig for the spline from. The finish is semi gloss paint.

The second woodworking project I've ever done. I also made a bookcase for my son that I haven't photographed yet. This site has been very inspirational.

    Thanks for looking.

The look on her face says, and means, more than anything we could add!

Boy she is cute, will give you a hard time keeping all the boys at bay! Nice job on the bookcase too, but I guess she already let you know that.

What they all said and then some. That look is pay that's hard to come by but well worth the effort.

                          I made the same one

How Ironic, I made one as my second project too but I made mine as an entertainment center/book case. I made mine about 5ft high x 4ft wide with windows on the side.

Funny though, I measured and thought I could bring upstairs from the basement but didn't take into consideration that the clearance needed to angle it up my stairs was more than I measured. I needed to find a way to remove the roof without damage.

I turned to the DIY channel show called "Talk to DIY" and they had my project shown on their TV show and I spoke to them while on the phone.

TIP: They had me lightly sand the area with the screws till I could see the plugs. Then I carefully drilled the plugs out so I could remove the screws.

I get compliments all the time on the house. Your's is also made very well. I'm sure you too will get many compliments.
