Comissioned job. (no cash involved) The community centre got a new 27" TV and their cart is about right for a 21" at max. So I was volunteered to build them a new one. Here's the results. And what I learned. Measure twice and cut once is not all you need to do. Also watch grain direction. You can't see it in the pictures but the grain on the top runs fore and aft rather than side to side or should I say port to starboard. Hopefully no one will notice but I didn't want to waste a perfectly good cut. The frames are oak, panels are oak ply and the black parts are poplar. It came in only 100% over budget. I've got to get better at guesstimating. The design is my own and morphed from a simple ply box into what you see here. The black is set into dadoes, the frames are dowelled and assembled with biscuts. I also used some of Norm's "pinned with a few nails" and screws hold the top and bottom in. Generally I try and avoid metal fastmers but as long as this whole thing was not supposed to be "fine cabinetry" I thought I would experiment.

A very professional looking piece of furniture. It's probably a lot more than they expected. As creators, we see more than others do.
