    Oak Toolbox

This toolbox started out as a whim for a place to store "special" handtools. and some of my car buddies saw it and I took orders making several with different woods and trim details. I carved their names, date, and fabrication number in the lid and signed each one. The "personal" touch brought a few more $'s. It's a lot like the "red" tool box, except slightly larger. It's 26"w x 16" h x 14"d. Thought I'd show it, maybe give you ww's an idea.

Wow. I'd better not show those pic to my wife or she'll want one for her silverware. Beautiful work.

Almost to nice to put tools in. Bet every tool gets a good wipe down before being placed in side.

Somehow I knew someone would ask about the handles. They are a moulding usually sold to cabinet shops in the two profiles shown in the attachment. I usually cut off the spline at the bottom and the front lip at the same time, so the handle can be edge glued to 3/4", and sanded flush. The 11/16" mentioned is what's behind the front lip, so mounting to 5/8" melamine would flush it out. It's sold as random lengths, usually at least 6'.
