    I was thinking that's way you would've done it, mounted to a tree.

      i dug these 2 down almost 5 ft .then i used some branches for the supports.
      i also brace the main post for about 3 months until the ground hardens up.

        With that many birds living there, there can't be any bugs in the entire county. Awesome job. About how long does it take start-to-finish for one one these wonderful creations?

          Your right i don't bet very many bugs.
          this house took me about 10 days starting with pulling all the nails from the wood to what you see now.
          it takes about 7 or 8 hrs just to cut the logs.
          i also had to primer and paint the roof and railings and water sealed the rest.

            Do you get a lot of birds nesting in them or is mostly for show? I find that if I have single bird houses to close together birds shy away from them.

              i have 7 or 8 birds nesting in each of the large houses. there are always birds on them.
              i have been trying to get some pictures of them but i need a camera with zoom. they take off when i try to get close to them.
