    Bathroom cabinet

Hi, guys. I've been around the site for a while, but I haven't posted much. I just got access to a digital camera, so I have to toss in some stuff now.
Here is one of two bathroom vanity cabinets I have made for our new house. It is black walnut with quilted maple pannels.

Looks great! Did you pay a high price for the maple or get lucky and pick boards out at the regular maple price? I have gotten figured material both ways. The closest dealer to me sorts out all the good stuff and charges more for it. The other place I go in Charlotte just puts it all out so you can pick through and get some nicer boards if you are willing to work a little and they have just put out some new material.

The maple part is a veneer pack that I bought and laminated onto some oak ply. The case of the cabinet and the inside of the doors is all oak ply. I spent about $60 for the sequenced bundle. Pricey, but dang it looks good. I was able to bookmatch both sets of doors that way, though. The black walnut grew in my parents yard until they cut it down to build a sunroom a while back, so I roughed some boards out of it. Final layout of the whole thing will be a 30 inch vanity on each end with a lower makeup area between. Eight feet of bathroom cabinets that have cost me around $200.

I agree. That quality of wood and work should be out on display!
